Hannah had always dreamed that a man, tall, dark and handsome, would sweep her off her feet. Imagine how her heart fluttered when into church one Sunday morning walked the ‘perfect man’!
The only trouble was, he didn’t notice her! Well, maybe he did, but she was just a “little girl” to him so, obviously not believing in puppy love, took his time about things!
Hannah waited for a year, that felt like a lifetime, before they started dating and as their hearts grew in love for each other, Hannah became a lovely young lady, capable, and ready to fly the coop.
Tevita and Hannah moved to Sydney where Tevita’s warm and welcoming family lived and Hannah learnt to navigate the crazy Sydney traffic piled up even in the middle of the day, and storms that come and go within the hour!
After 4 long years, in April 2019, Tevita suggested a date night in an Italian restaurant. The meal was scrumptious and unforgettable, and Tevita was so swept away that he almost forgot to pay the bill!
Maybe he had other things on his mind because as they strolled around the lake after, under the glow of a street light, he kneeled down and asked Hannah to be his adorable bride!
Their wedding day was a great cultural experience with ‘tevutevu’ (spreading of mats) at the ceremony. Tevita and the groomsmen wore the wrap-around ‘masi’, woven from mulberry bark. They then changed into Aussie suits for photos and the reception.
‘Meke’ was performed, as the history of Tevita’s family was told through speeches, music and dancing.
With thankful parents all round and a very happy bride and groom, it was a day full of laughter and celebration and a pleasure to be part of.
