Carrick Hill was gifted to the Barr-Smith family to Sir Edward and Lady Ursula Hayward as a wedding present! Ursula designed beautiful gardens and had them tended immaculately while her husband managed the David Jones Department store and chaired the Adelaide Coca-Cola franchise! The Haywards collected many artworks and heirlooms, and these have been preserved for the public to view in the Carrick Hill Museum.
