Hahndorf, in the Adelaide Hills, was founded in 1839, by migrants and has all the good country feel about it for an organic, country wedding. The Main Road has many authentic shops and tourists love to spend the day browsing and enjoying the beautiful ambience.
There are restaurants and cafe's in Hahndorf that cater for weddings, including the Three Gum Bistro, situated in the Hahndorf Resort where this wedding photos was taken. This is on the right hand side as you come into the Hahndorf off the freeway, just past the fruit and veg shop.
Also within the Hahndorf Resort is The Adelaide Hills Convention Centre that can cater for a large guest list - up to 600 people! Like the Three Gum Bistro, there are a lot of opportunities for photos in the field, by the lake, amongst the trees or along the main road of Hahndorf.
There are other lovely places for weddings in Hahndorf including The Seasonal Garden Cafe, a gorgeous cottage with a large area out the back with rustic tables and chairs for all your guests, a grassed area along the creek line for the off chance you may need a marquee if it looks like it's going to be very hot or raining. You can find this on the right hand side of the main road, if you are coming from Adelaide. Garden beds with fresh produce and flowers and fruit trees frame this wedding venue making it very popular for those who want to keep their wedding day real and organic. Seasonal can cater for up to 200 people at weddings. The Seasonal's food is organic, sourced locally and is a popular hang out for Adelaide Hills folk all year round.
The Whitehouse (otherwise known as The Establishment 1858) is a gorgeous, renovated cottage with a eye catching white picket fence. With french inspired country food so beautifully presented, your guests will talk about this for years to come. This venue also has an area out the back for guests to move to during the reception.
The Haus, further up the Mt Barker Road also on the left hand side is a popular spot for a wedding reception with it's hearty meals, friendly service and a back area for your guests to enjoy the country air and mingle together. You may choose to cut your cake out in this area. The Haus has extended their premises to have a Function Room to the left side of their building that includes a large floor to ceiling bar and seats 150 people. There's a patio that looks out onto the main road and creates quite the atmosphere! The food is similar to what they serve in their main restaurant which is generous, delicious and always satisfying!
Natalie and Jakob (pictured) had their wedding ceremony on the lawns outside the Three Gum Bistro with views looking over Hahndorf.
There is a field at the side of Hahndorf Resort where the grass isn't mowed so we can pick up the glow of the sun in the grass as the golden glow streams through the gum trees. We took 10 minutes out of the wedding reception to capture some photos and give Natalie and Jakob some time together. The images we created here are some of my favourite from this wedding day, not just for the photos themselves but the memories of such beautiful moments that the photos evoke. Natalie's beautiful lace, off the shoulder bridal gown was from LuvBridal. Kate Hair and Make Up did a lovely job of Natalie's hair bringing it back with a few soft curls on the sides. Her make-up was subtle and allowed the brides eyes to sparkle - though the groom did an admirable job of that too! This couple came from interstate for their wedding day and all the families stayed at the resort for the weekend so the wedding was celebrated over 3 days. It was a small, intimate wedding with very close friends and family and a delight to be a part of.
